And then ...

Presenter Topic: Chatty Cafe

Presenter: Glenys Reid will be in person

Glenys Reid M.Ed GAICD - Managing Director

Glenys was born in Melbourne, Australia. She grew up in Canberra before studying in Sydney, travelling to Asia, and eventually ending up in the USA where she lived, studied and worked for 15 years. She now lives back in Melbourne in the beachside City of Bayside.

After experiencing an unexpected period of social isolation in late 2017, Glenys began introducing Chatty Café to Australia in late 2019, in an informal partnership with the UK Chatty Cafe office. The national bushfires in 2019 and current Covid-19 pandemic has made it clearer than ever to Glenys that Australia needs its local communities to be encouraged to stay socially connected to help prevent loneliness at all stages in life. Glenys believes Chatty Cafe Australia can help communities achieve that.

Glenys Reid from Chatty Cafe Australia will speak to us about connecting with other people in chatty places - like our club-rooms.

Then...

We are going to have an extended interval with drinks and nibbles and an opportunity to have a bit of a

chat and generally socialise. We will provide light nibbles, tea, coffee and soft drinks. Feel free to BYO beer or vino.

And then ...

  •   Hugh Macdonald will deliver the President's report for this month.
  • We will then get a report from iHelp, courtesy of: Bert Alesich.
  • To wind up we'll have as long as you like to chat over Zoom. Please feel free to hang around; the socialising is good medicine in these stressful times.

and last but not least ...

The restaurant has been arranged for WAFFLE, a relaxed social get together at nearby Fong's Chinese restaurant. Details and maps will be available on the night.
