Editorial December 2019
2nd December 2019
Hugh Macdonald
Welcome to the final edition of PC Update for 2019.
This edition comes off the back of a momentous month for the club. Firstly a new committee was elected, featuring quite a number of very familiar faces within the club and a few who are fairly new to the club as well. You can read a short biography of everyone who is serving on the committee in these pages this month. And don’t forget, if you ever have any thoughts, comments or questions for the committee don’t hesitate to reach out via committee@melbpc.org.au or by posting a message in Melb PC Discussion on Yammer.
The past month has also marked David Stonier-Gibson’s official start as the new president of the club, succeeding John Hall. You can read David’s first president’s report in these pages as well.
Content wise this month, you will find an interesting article on smart devices in the home from Phil Sorrentino of The Computer Club, Florida, an article on how to clean your laptop thoroughly from David Kretchmar of Sun City Summerlin Computer Club, Nevada, and a collection of very interesting web links from Steve Costello of Boca Raton Computer Society, Florida. Our very own Tim McQueen also has a review of a book about the state of Internet usage in China. So plenty of holiday reading there!
So from me, and on behalf of all the other volunteers at Melbourne PC User Group, I hope you have a happy and safe holiday period!
P.S. Please see the Member Notices this month, which include details of the dates the office will be closed.
